SERDI PATENTS 1980
| SERDI Patent 1980 | SERDI Patent 1996 | SERDI Patent 1999 |

First patented system. Classic workhead dual Air-Float Automatic Centering.

The dual air-float automatic centering system was the first in the world made with the patented process developed by the SERDI Company.

This unique method uses a solid carbide straight shank pilot. When inserted into the valve guide, it simulates the real valve stem during the centering process. This guaranteed the valve seat is finished within the closest tolerance for a perfect valve to seat match.

The combination of flat and spherical air cuchions 1, 2 and 3, allows the entire workhead and spindle to free-float.

The solid carbie straight shank pilot mounted in the spindle nose is inserted 4 into the valve guide.

The free-floating workhead and spindle assembly automatically aligns into the valve guide regardless of any guide to guide misalignment or angular deflection.

When the centering is completed the workhead and spindle are clamped down pneumatically.

The SERDI dual air-float automatic centering system guarantees fast, perfect centering of the spindle in each individual valve guide.

The spindle is driven through belts and telescopic transmission shaft. The electric motor is mounted in the back of the workhead. On the latest generation machines, the motor is a powerfull Siemens AC unit constantly monitored by a modern frequency converter. The board torque curve provides smooth chatter-free, multi angle machining on diameters well above 3" or 75mm.
